The North Texas Nurse Honor Guard's mission is to honor all nurses at the end of life for their selfless dedication and compassion to their patients. We will provide a service with dignity and respect, and officially release the nurse of their nursing duties at their last roll call.
Integrity, compassion, and respect are at the core of everything we do at The North Texas Honor Guard. We believe the nurse provides care with every ounce of their being and wish to honor the nurse as well as provide the same care and attention we would give to our own loved ones; who also traveled on this nursing journey with us.
The nurse honor guard pays tribute to nurses for their selfless dedication to their patient's and to their profession at their end of life, with a "Nightingale Tribute." Nurses from the Honor Guard of North Texas work voluntarily to be present at funeral homes, places of worship, gatherings or the bedside to honor their nurse colleagues, and perform their final roll call - to relieve them of their duties as a nurse. Our hope is that our presence is a source of comfort to the family and friends of the nurse who has passed, as well as a celebration of their nursing commitment.
We serve over 12 counties and welcome you to join us in supporting our fellow nurses.
The North Texas Nurse Honor Guard will:
-Attend all services wearing the traditional white uniform, cap and cape
-Stand guard at the casket and provide a presence at the services (per family request)
-Recite the Nightingale Pledge at the funeral or memorial service
-Present the Florence Nightingale lamp to the family
-Perform Last Call to Duty

Staffed by working & retired nurses who volunteer their time to honor our nurse-colleagues.
Donations are used to purchase lamps, roses, bells & other items to perform our service.
Nurses at their own expense, purchase uniforms & volunteer their time to perform our tribute service.
